I do hope this NIH enterprise does try to interface with the FDA. I,OTOH, am concerned about early stage discovery - which, for novel antibiotics, has been very unproductive for years - even when Big Pharma worked at it diligently. From what I have read about this initiative, and from what I've seen of academic and govt concepts of screening and antibiotic drug discovery [and most drug discovery], I have very low expectations. Unless - as you say - NCATS get some industry- trained people involved early on. <br /><br />And by industry-trained people, I mean scientists involved in discovery - not upper management, who have driven Big Pharma drug discovery into the ground.lynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06624656162991974750noreply@blogger.com
